It is characterized by the appearance of many small cyst-like structures on the ovaries, but the main problem is hormone imbalance. PCOS is not only characterized by menstrual irregularities, but also by many other symptoms such as hair growth, acne, weight gain and difficulty conceiving.  <\/p><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"990\"><strong data-start=\"941\" data-end=\"990\">When is Menstrual Irregularity a Sign of PCOS?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1099\">Not all menstrual irregularities are PCOS. PCOS is not a serious disease, but in the long term it may be associated with risks such as <strong data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2028\">insulin resistance<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2047\">type 2 diabetes<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2049\" data-end=\"2061\">infertility<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2063\" data-end=\"2080\">hypertension<\/strong>. <\/p><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"2116\" data-end=\"2167\"><strong data-start=\"2121\" data-end=\"2167\">Can Menstrual Irregularities Occur Without PCOS?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2169\" data-end=\"2234\">Absolutely!
