However, as with any medication, birth control pills may not be suitable for every woman. Some health conditions and risk factors may make the use of birth control pills inappropriate. In this article, we will examine the <strong data-start=\"527\" data-end=\"588\">contraceptive pill contraindications<\/strong> and alternative methods.   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aaba27a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"aaba27a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is a birth control pill?<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6317258 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6317258\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"\" data-start=\"670\" data-end=\"992\">Birth control pills are medicines containing hormones, usually <strong data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"746\">estrogen<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"763\">progestin<\/strong>, to prevent pregnancy. The pills prevent ovulation, making the environment in the uterus unsuitable for pregnancy. However, every woman&#8217;s body is different and for some women birth control pills may not be suitable.  <\/p><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1064\"><strong data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1064\">Contraceptive Pill Use is Inadvisable<\/strong><\/h3><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1125\">1. <strong data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1125\">Women Smokers (Especially 35 Years and Older<\/strong>)<\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1472\">Smoking is a factor that can increase or damage the effectiveness of birth control pills. In women who smoke, especially in the age group of 35 years and older, birth control pills can have negative effects on <strong data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1328\">the circulatory system<\/strong>. Smoking increases the risk of blood clots and can lead to serious health problems such as <strong data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1418\">heart attack<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1428\">stroke<\/strong>.  <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1541\"><strong data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1485\">Risk:<\/strong> Blood clots, blockage of blood vessels, heart disease.<\/li><li data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1682\"><strong data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1559\">Alternative<\/strong> Alternative methods such as non-hormonal contraception, condoms or <strong>contraception implants<\/strong> may be preferred.<\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"1689\" data-end=\"1732\">2. <strong data-start=\"1697\" data-end=\"1732\">High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1734\" data-end=\"2003\">Women with high blood pressure (hypertension) should talk to their doctor before taking birth control pills. This is because birth control pills can increase blood pressure and cause serious health problems in people at risk of <strong data-start=\"1923\" data-end=\"1940\">hypertension<\/strong>. <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"2007\" data-end=\"2060\"><strong data-start=\"2007\" data-end=\"2016\">Risk:<\/strong> Heart disease, atherosclerosis, stroke.<\/li><li data-start=\"2063\" data-end=\"2160\"><strong data-start=\"2063\" data-end=\"2078\">Alternative:<\/strong> Low-hormonal or non-hormonal contraception may be preferred.<\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"2167\" data-end=\"2201\">3. <strong data-start=\"2175\" data-end=\"2201\">Liver Diseases<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2203\" data-end=\"2499\">Birth control pills are metabolized by the liver. Women with liver disease may experience a build-up of toxins in their body and liver function may be damaged when taking these medicines. Birth control pills can also trigger serious conditions such as liver tumors.  <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"2503\" data-end=\"2568\"><strong data-start=\"2503\" data-end=\"2512\">Risk:<\/strong> Liver damage, toxin accumulation, liver tumors.<\/li><li data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2659\"><strong data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2586\">Alternative:<\/strong> Non-hormonal methods (condoms, spiral, etc.) should be preferred.<\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"2666\" data-end=\"2716\">4. <strong data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2716\">Women with a history of blood clots<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2718\" data-end=\"2919\">A blood clotting disorder can make the use of birth control pills inconvenient. This disease can cause the blood to clot abnormally and birth control pills can increase this risk. <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"2923\" data-end=\"3000\"><strong data-start=\"2923\" data-end=\"2932\">Risks:<\/strong> Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (pulmonary embolism), stroke.<\/li><li data-start=\"3003\" data-end=\"3091\"><strong data-start=\"3003\" data-end=\"3018\">Alternative:<\/strong> Non-hormonal methods that do not increase blood clotting should be preferred.<\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"3098\" data-end=\"3156\">5. <strong data-start=\"3106\" data-end=\"3156\">Microbial Infections and Vaginal Inflammations<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3158\" data-end=\"3366\">Some vaginal infections and inflammations can adversely affect the use of birth control pills. These conditions can lead to a disturbed balance of vaginal flora and worsen hormonal balance. <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"3370\" data-end=\"3445\"><strong data-start=\"3370\" data-end=\"3379\">Risk:<\/strong> Further increase in infections, treatment-resistant infections.<\/li><li data-start=\"3448\" data-end=\"3558\"><strong data-start=\"3448\" data-end=\"3463\">Alternative:<\/strong> After treatment of the vaginal infection, a contraceptive method recommended by the doctor can be used.<\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"3565\" data-end=\"3649\">6. <strong data-start=\"3573\" data-end=\"3649\">Pregnancy Risk (Women with Pregnancy Symptoms or Positive Pregnancy Test)<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3651\" data-end=\"3898\">Taking birth control pills during pregnancy can be dangerous for both mother and baby. It is not advisable for a woman with a positive pregnancy test to use birth control pills. In this case, the use of the contraceptive pill should be stopped.  <\/p><ul><li data-start=\"3902\" data-end=\"3956\"><strong data-start=\"3902\" data-end=\"3911\">Risk:<\/strong> Adverse effects on the fetus, risk of miscarriage.<\/li><li data-start=\"3959\" data-end=\"4041\"><strong data-start=\"3959\" data-end=\"3974\">Alternative:<\/strong> After a pregnancy test, appropriate pregnancy management should be ensured.<\/li><\/ul><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"4048\" data-end=\"4126\"><strong data-start=\"4052\" data-end=\"4126\">Other Conditions to be Considered When Using the Birth Control Pill<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li data-start=\"4130\" data-end=\"4336\"><strong data-start=\"4130\" data-end=\"4164\">If you are taking other medicines:<\/strong> Some medicines (e.g. antibiotics, some fungicides) can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. In this case, it is recommended to use another method of contraception. <\/li><li data-start=\"4339\" data-end=\"4461\"><strong data-start=\"4339\" data-end=\"4365\">Overweight women:<\/strong> Women who are overweight may not benefit enough from the effectiveness of birth control pills.<\/li><li data-start=\"4339\" data-end=\"4461\"><strong>In case of diarrhea and vomiting: <\/strong>In these cases, oral medicines will not be absorbed into the bloodstream and will have no effect even if taken.<\/li><\/ul><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"4468\" data-end=\"4526\"><strong data-start=\"4472\" data-end=\"4526\">Get Expert Opinion<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4528\" data-end=\"4861\">Every woman&#8217;s body is different and the choice of contraceptive method depends on her personal health status.
