Nemide Çetin, 52, who had to have her uterus and ovaries removed due to bleeding problems, regained her health with a vaginal laparoscopy with the VNotes (scarless surgery) method at Liv Hospital Gaziantep Hospital. The patient, who was able to walk comfortably on her own 6 hours after the surgery, was discharged 12 hours after the surgery after an uncomplicated recovery.
Nemide Çetin, 52, who had constant bleeding complaints, applied to Liv Hospital Gaziantep as a last resort after she was told at the center that her uterus and ovaries needed to be removed, but that vaginal surgery could not be performed due to her weight, and that open and laparoscopic operations could be too risky.
“She walked alone after 6 hours”
Providing information about the process, Liv Hospital Gaziantep Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ovayolu stated that the patient had been bleeding for a long time when she came and that it was still continuing, and that as a result of the tests and examinations they made, they decided to remove the patient’s uterus and ovaries by entering the vagina with the vNotes method.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ovayolu said, “We operated on our patient using the vNotes method, considering that Nemide Çetin would have wound and healing problems with open surgery and that technical problems could occur with laparoscopy due to her weight. Our patient, who was walking comfortably on her own 6 hours after the vNotes surgery, was discharged 12 hours after the surgery following an uncomplicated recovery.”
“What is the VNotes method”
Providing information about the VNotes (vaginal laparoscopy) method, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ovayolu said, “In the vNotes method, unlike other surgeries, there is no incision in the abdomen. In the vNOTES operation, hospitalization and recovery periods are shorter. Since there are no abdominal incisions, there are no undesirable events such as wound healing, inflammation, wound opening and hernia formation. It can be easily applied to obese people and those with systemic diseases. In short, it is easy, comfortable, aesthetic and short-lived for the patient and the doctor. The main operations performed with the vNOTES, or vaginal laparoscopy technique, are hysterectomy, ovarian and tube surgeries, tube ligation, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy and myoma operations. In addition, operations related to vaginal sagging can also be performed after the hysterectomy.”
“It can also be applied to diabetics and obese patients”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ovayolu, explaining the other advantages of the method, said, “These operations can be easily performed on women who have previously undergone numerous abdominal surgeries and are thought to have adhesions. There are difficulties in all closed and open operations of patients with diabetes and obesity, which are frequently encountered in our region. Again, the wound healing of these patients is difficult, long and laborious. In obese and/or diseased women, the operation may not be performed because the patient’s head is not allowed to be tilted down during laparoscopy or single port laparoscopies. These technical difficulties can be overcome more easily with vNOTES.”
“I have no stitches or scars”
Nemide Çetin, who regained her health after the successful surgery, said, “I had constant bleeding complaints and I thought the surgery would be very painful, but thanks to the method my doctor used, it did not happen as I feared. I have no stitches or scars, I cannot thank my doctor enough.”
