Aiming to raise awareness about breastfeeding, Canadian director Noémi Weiss’s documentary film titled “Milk” about birth and breastfeeding will be screened for the first time in Turkey at Gaziantep Liv Hospital. The film, which will also be made available to experts in the earthquake zone, draws attention to the importance of infant nutrition, especially in disaster situations. The events organized in collaboration with Film Blanc, Telus Fund and La Leche League Turkey will include film screenings as well as an event (workshop) led by experts where international protocols and scientific resources (guides) regarding infant nutrition in cases of natural disasters (earthquakes, etc.) approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) will be explained. Speaking on the subject, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ovayolu, President of the Gaziantep Midwives Association, said, “We continue our trainings that will change the perspective of healthcare professionals. We want them to gain international professional contributions as well as national dimensions.” Ovayolu also reminded that healthcare professionals must fill out the form on their social media accounts in order to participate in the workshop.
